7. Midterm Self-Evaluation

Probably I've already done this self-evaluation in the survey; but this time I'll try to write about it more detailed.

I've learned quite a lot during these 2 months, but the most important experience for me was the experience of talking to a native American for so long. I'm really grateful to David, who I can speak to for almost 3 hours a week. His speech is very easy to understand; when I'm speaking to him I even forget that I'm speaking a foreign language  To my mind, communication skills is the most important thing in English. I believe that this class (English 201) improves my communication skills. Speaking is the activity I enjoyed most in this courses. I hope we'll do enough of these activities the next part of this semester.

The "body" of our course is, of course, writing assignments. I spend most time on them and find out some new errors that I am inclined to do. However, I've written lots of writting assignments last year when I was preparing for State Exam. Of course, they were twice shorter and easier; moreover, the only type of essay we had to write was argumentative essay. Nevertheless, I got used to writing texts in English that year. Consequently, now writing for is not as hard as it used to be. I find writing assignments very helpful; and I believe that the skills we get from writing them will be needed in my future career.

As I already mentioned, I love taking part in discussions. Reading assignments is a good motivation for speaking; however, I'd like questions after texts to be more interesting. I'd like give my personal opinion, not just retell what an author writes. To my mind, this is almost the only and the biggest disadvantage of the course.

The thing that I really love about English 201 is blog assignment! In my opinion, informal writing is as important as formal one. Moreover, blog is a placce where I can share my thoughts with David and my classmates. Blog helps us know each other better.

So, thanks everybody (and especially David) for an interesting and challeging English course! I hope the second part of it will be even cooler than the first one!
